This one has been running through my head nonstop. Just a single sentence/ idea.
(something to this degree, but less sucky)
As soon as you proclaim to "know" you are free, you leave yourself... exposed to... bondage
As soon as you stop working for freedom you lose it.
The minute you start thinking you're free, you are chained.
The minute you think you're free, you lose some of your freedom.
The minute you start thinking you're free, the chains start creeping up or the bars start closing in again, the something something some shit.
Thinking your free is the first sign mind enslavement.
Anyway, this was all inspired by the... dfh n;aersoit aheshio; song:
"I'm proud to be an American, cuz at least I know I'm free."
God! It makes me angry when the private sector manages to produce better propaganda than Uncle Sam.
The freedom question aside, even without it that just blatantly ignores and sugar-coats and dismisses all the problems with America.
"I'm proud to be an American, because at least I know the luck of my family's backgroud will allow me to continue to rise up the social/economic ladder of the U.S. caste system. I'm proud to be an American, because at least I know I can destroy the earth and future generations by driving my big fat Hummer, and better yet I'll get a tax refund on it for my conscientious decision to support the economy with my big bucks purchase while corporations and Uncle Sam ignore and even actively try to prevent more environmentally friendly vehicles. I'm proud to be an American because at least I know I can send MY child to a private school, or raise her in a mini-mansion so she's in the best zone, or bug the school system to let my baby go to Reynolds cuz... she's MY baby and she deserve the BEST, Tabor will certainly not do. I'm proud to be an American because at least I know my conservative Christian values will be heard above all other belief systems and gays will not be allowed to marry thus upsetting the rigid family structure I worked so hard to instill in my children during my divorces. I'm proud to be an American because at least I know I can choose the news program that serves my personal prejudices and not have to worry about the truth or expanding my mind.
God this could go on forever
It's okay that you're starving, because YOU"RE FREE!! It's okay that you're receiving the death penalty for a crime you may or maynot have committed because YOU"RE FREE!! It's okay that you're being drafted into a war you don't believe in because YOU"RE FREE!! You're more educated than half the voter in this country, but you're under twenty-one so you can't select you're candidate despite the fact that you will die for your country befoore the next election but that's okay YOU"RE FREE! it's okay that your parents were poor so you got a horrible education and will continue the pattern when you have your children but that's okay YOU"RE FREE!! You can't get a legal abortion so a kind doctor does it but you don't have the right equipment or a sterile environment and you die a gruesome death but that's okay YOU"RE FREE!! The perverse American media confuses you to believe you can't be beautiful at a healthy weight so you barf and fast but despite that you probably would not have developed the life-ruining/ending eating disorder in a "less developed' or perhaps just socially responsible country, you're proud to be an American because at least you khnow YOU"RE FREE!!
Etc, etc, etc
